Conjugates of Recombinant Protein‐Based Polymers: Combining Precision with Chemical Diversity

چکیده

Inspired by nature, scientists have harnessed the natural protein translation machinery to produce intricate and precise protein‐based polymers (PBPs)—composed of amino acid monomers assembled on nano‐to‐macro scale—for drug gene delivery, sense environment, valuable molecules, grow cells tissues. Beyond chemical repertoire acids, conjugation chemically diverse molecules recombinant PBPs can increase ability latter mimic or modify remarkable properties biomaterials impart new functions. In this review, recent progress in production application PBP‐conjugates is described. First, various approaches for crosslinking are briefly discussed then utility approach imparting improved functions onto composed elastin‐, resilin‐, silk‐, collagen‐based sequences demonstrated. Finally, emerging knowledge technologies PBP‐conjugate with potential expand use such biomedicine discussed.
